Wonderful Pong system made in New Zealand.
Thanks to Clinton Rowe for the nice pictures.
Please visit his wonderful "The Retrowe Museum
" website and learn more about NZ typical videogame systems.
Very solid Pong built inside a wooden cabinet. The Paddles look like they were made of Bakelite but I guess it is woodgrain style Plastic. The built in games and the features should be hint that this has the famous GI Ay-3-8500 chip built inside.
Clinton Rowe tells us:
"This is a New Zealand made pong console with the name Videosport. I'm not sure if the use of the name 'Videosport' is licensed.
What is nice about this console is the wooden housing and veneer finish. It is not cheapened by the plastic that all other NZ manufactured consoles I know about were made of.
Another feature of this console is that it automatically turns on into a demo mode or playing of a game. Coupled with the in-built speaker, what you have is an excellent pong sound effects machine. No need to plug into the tele, just find a power point anywhere and you can fill the room with that classic pong noise, or what I like to imagine, that sci-fi movie like sound for detecting the proximity and location for aliens and the like."
