Wonderful Pong system made in New Zealand.
Thanks to Clinton Rowe for the nice pictures.
Please visit his wonderful "The Retrowe Museum
" website and learn more about NZ typical videogame systems.
This Pong was built inside a very solid cabinet made of genuine wood! Please note the two knobs for horizontal & vertical motion. Also the 3 provided games including "hole in the wall" show that this is an early analog Pong!
Please note the horizontal & vertical adjustment feature. The Vidplay provided a slot for easy exchange of fuses when one blew off. A fine tuning dial let's you tune in your videosignal for a perfect stable picture.
The system came in a very artless box with only the manufacturers name and model number and no further illustrations.
Clinton Rowe tells us:
"Here is another NZ made pong console. It is probably suppose to be commonly known as the Vidplay model 707, however on the console itself in a smaller font it says 'one'.
Three games are available to play : Soccer, Tennis, Hole-In-The-Wall
It is one chunk of a console, beautifully cased in wood, controllers on the console, and measuring 42cm wide X 18cm deep X 10cm high.
Distributed by David Reid Electronics of which the retail chain was taken over by Dick Smith in 1992.
Rarity: Very Rare.
I have seen one other on auction in four years. A local auction as well.
