I picked this up on Ebay a few months ago after realising that it looked strikingly familiar to the Venture Electronics Video Sports VS-1.
99 cents and 4 days later, the console arrived at my doorstep, upon my eager opening of the box I pulled out the huge machine, plus its RF adapter and power supply.
The RF adaper is a simple compsite in (from the console) to RF out. The box itself is rusted over, but simple, since it was like every other box I had. The only thing that distinguished it from the rest was its size. The box itself is enoumous, at least twice the size as the usual atari or nes boxes that I frequently use.
The power supply consists of a regular 3 pronged Australian plug and a cream coloured transformer box (possibly due to discolouration), the power contacts were rusty and ungrounded, but worked nontheless.
After quite a while of jiggling the cable and tuning the TV, I found the frequency, which was 'hidden' (the tv could not find the signal) and could only be accessed by fine tuning. This is either due to a faulty RF modulator, or by the fact that this may be a revision or prototype for the aforementioned Venture Electronics Video Sports VS-1.
The machine is pretty standard, 4 games, Squash, Hockey, Tennis and Handball, but instead of the sound coming from the console, it was streamed through the TV, which was a fresh surprise, because none of my pong consoles do that. Another new thing was that there is a "serve" button, meaning that you can move anywhere before serving. The controls are the two large black dials, which do the job, but dont have any resistance and move with the slightest touch, which doesn't make for a good feeling, but it still functions, nonetheless.
As I've never seen another one of these consoles and that there is a very similar, yet modified version, I've drawn the conclusion that this is, in fact, a prototype console.
